White horse in a purple field

If you’re motoring along through the Northern Cape, and you suddenly find yourself surrounded by purple meadows and fields as far as the eye can see… – and then you happen to see a white horse grazing in the middle of this meadow – then you just have to stop to take a photograph.

I tried to tempt the beautiful white horse with a juicy fresh apple to come over and say hi, but he wasn’t biting. 🙂

Eventually, I gave up and munched the apple myself.

As we drove off, we noticed a car behind us, motoring along like we had – and also suddenly skidding to a stop at the side of the road. Clearly, we weren’t the only ones thinking that Mr Horse was very photogenic indeed.

This was the field - extraordinary, isn't it?

Thousands and thousands of delicate purple-mauve flowers.

  1. Extraordinary? Absolutely! With the white horse, it seems as though it might be an enchanted land. Your country is beautiful, and the animals too. I thank you for sharing all of the special scenes on your posts.

    • You’re very welcome, Bonnie; I’m so glad you enjoyed travelling with us in spirit. When I first spotted that horse among the purple flowers, I thought it was an apparition… or a statue or something, put there by a mischievous farmer. You’re right, it did feel ‘enchanted’.
