With the paving of the courtyard now complete, and the tiling of the patio having had a chance to settle, the next step was for Peetie the Carpenter to drill the holes for the pins, which would anchor the four upright wooden pillars onto the tiles below.
After much measuring, and creative visualisation of perspectives, we finalised the exact spots where the pillars would be anchored. The drilling no doubt had Peetie wishing he could use a jackhammer, because the new cement platform was extremely hard. When he was finally done, the four pins were secured into the tiles and cement base by squishing a powerful chemical bonding liquid into the hole.
In the early evening, when the dust had settled and peace and quiet had returned to our garden, Miss Tuffy-Cat did her usual quality control on the four pins. She pronounced them well-anchored indeed.
